Anti-tau antibody reduces cognitive decline by 54% in early-stage patients

This multicenter Phase II trial evaluated zanemizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting extracellular tau, in 340 early Alzheimer's patients. Results show significant slowing of cognitive and functional decline with an acceptable tolerability profile.

Key Findings
54% slowing of cognitive decline vs. placebo at 18 months
Significant tau burden reduction on PET imaging (p<0.0001)
No amyloid-related imaging abnormalities observed
